When things just wont work out

God Completes Every Project: Phillipians 1:6

Today the church was supposed to have a car wash to raise money for our new building and youth ministry. We really needed to have the fundraiser today and it set us back about a week. Because the weather is so bad today we were forced to make other plans. How many times in your life have you had an unforseen setback. We make plans sometimes and we put alot of work into preparing for things only to find out that something fell through.

I'm reminded of the children of Isreal who knew God had a plan for their life but faced many setbacks (Book of Exodus). Some of there problems they caused and some came from the enemy. But in the end they made it to the place God had promised. They lost many along the way and suffered some emotional scars as well as physical , but they made it. It is important for us to remember that our focus should be on the end result and not on the problems that come in between. When God gives us a vision for our life he knows that the middle is going to be rough and there may be some setbacks. When these things happen we must remind ourselves that God finishes everything he starts. God does not give up on us because we make mistakes or because someone tries to throw a wrench in our plans. God fights for his people in every situation. I want to encourage you to speak the promises of God when things look like they are going the other direction.

When setbacks occur we must work to find new solutions and solve the problems that may be hindering progress. In order to do this we must take giving up out of the picture. Giving up should not even be a possible solution. I want to encourage you to work around setbacks and find new ways to make the vision happen. Our church has planned a new fundraising date and will work to make it successful. We can't dwell on the weather occuring today because we must concentrate on the possibilities of tommorow.

God Bless!

Pastor Anthony
